Our ethics/vision:

Our vision is to bring to Aotearoa, the absolute best of ancient Indian craftsmanship.

We collaborate with artisans across a spectrum of traditional techniques such as block printing, perfumery and intricate handwoven textile production. 

The starting point for Sundar Studio is to help preserve and sustain the diverse craft traditions of India and to do so in a way that is good for the lands and peoples of India and Aotearoa. Where possible, we maximise the handmade element in our products - valuing the organic process of an artisan’s skill over machined perfection. Our products are made in the Northern regions of India, specifically around Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

 

Sundar Studio collaborates with our artisan partners in India and curates vibrant and nostalgic pieces that whisper of Indian summers, of blooming bougainvillea, the scent of the monsoon, the ritual of chai and pakora, bustling homes and a zest for life. We aspire to bring you the best of Indian homewares in an authentic and relational way - the way it feels to be invited home rather than taken by a tour guide.
